Our adventure began with a comfortable and seamless flight with Lufthansa, starting at Arlanda, stopping briefly in Frankfurt, and then heading straight to the bustling heart of Colombia, Bogotá. The anticipation grew with each mile flown, setting the stage for a memorable 60th birthday celebration.
Nestled in the vibrant streets of Bogotá, HAB Hotel welcomed us with its unique charm and boutique ambiance. The hotel's exquisite design and attentive service made it more than just a place to stay; it was a part of our journey.
Exploring the Gay Scene: A Kaleidoscope of Nightlife
Bogotá's gay scene is thriving and diverse, with a plethora of bars and clubs. Each venue we visited offered a different flavor of the city's vibrant LGBTQ+ culture. While we couldn't visit them all, the ones we did were pulsating with energy and inclusivity.

Plaza de Bolívar and La Candelaria
Strolling through these historic areas, we were enchanted by the blend of colonial architecture and modern street art. It's a living museum, telling stories of the past and present.
Museo del Oro
This glittering treasure trove showcases over 34,000 gold pieces, offering a glimpse into the sophisticated metalworking of pre-Hispanic cultures.
Monserrate
The panoramic views of the city from this mountaintop sanctuary were breathtaking. The funicular ride up and cable car descent added a thrill to our visit.
Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá
A marvel of human ingenuity, this underground cathedral carved out of salt mines left us in awe of its artistic and spiritual depth.
Botero Museum
Celebrating the works of Fernando Botero and other artists, this museum gave us insight into Colombia's unique art scene.
Culinary Delights at El Chato
For the birthday celebration, we dined at El Chato. The restaurant is no 35 of the best restaurants in the world, and well worth it. Renowned for its innovative cuisine, the restaurant offered a culinary experience that was as delightful as it was memorable as we where paraded through 12 courses with drinks to match! What an experience!
Mr. Colombia Leather: A Celebration of Community
Attending the Mr. Colombia Leather event was a highlight, showcasing the strength and vibrancy of the local LGBTQ+ community. It was a night of joy, acceptance, and unforgettable encounters.
The competition is quite young in Colombia, but was very nicely hosted. The main event was at Brokeback Mountain, and the after party was held at Bearlove.

We are simple people! Our favourite place, with venues all over town: BBC! And No, you dirty minds, it's not what it means in the rest of the world. Here it's the Bogota Beer Company!
